This week on Singularity Now that the rigs are getting more refined, we can gear up animation production cycles. This process usually starts a bit slow and picks up in speed as people get more familiar with the characters. All while shots files need to be built to feed the anim department.
This week my main task was feeding the animation machine (Hjalti, Pablico and Rik) with a steady stream of shot files. I also got started working on One's internal dome structure model.
This week I worked on the first "big" character shot where we get introduced to the main character Critter. Work on this shot needed to coincide with rig testing and feedback, which often meant 2 steps forward followed with 1 step backwards but now we have a stronger rig and can move onward with animation.
This week I worked more on the shot 030_0020 pushed more the action beats, also I added One in the 030_0010 to check how it will feel in that shot
Lots of unexpected Blender dev tasks (testing patches, reporting bugs and crashes), but still managed to make some progress on One's rig!
This week on Singularity This week was pretty quiet. Met did a first pass on One's rig and Pablico continued to work on his animation (now that most of the bugs should be ironed out!). There was quite some progress on the background creatures and the layout of 060_dance but we should see that appear in a couple of weeks time (some people are on holidays and can't upload things at this time).
I was busy writing a blog post about the story process of our film, it's going to be published on Wednesday hopefully! Furthermore I continued tweaking the layout for 060_dance.
First rig or One! And Critter's face is coming along nicely!
This week was mostly testing the facial of Critter and also continuing animating the shots, 030_0010 got some updates in the animation beats, trying to make Critter more scared and frantic. 030_0020 I just tried to replicated what it was in the layout as a starting point and like this open a conversation about the animation beats.
This week on Singularity As critter's face rig gets more refined, animation starts on a few key sequences. 'One', the giant jellyfish gets turned over to Demeter for rigging and shot files get prepped for the animation phase.
This week we had a lot of file breakage I helped fixing so I didn't get to do a lot of actual work. I did a complete first layout pass of scene 060, and set up animation files for most of the sequences of the beginning of the film!
This week I was working on a presentation so I barely contributed to Singularity, but here is some last minute design that was missing for One!
This week I continue working on testing the rig, for that I'm using some shots from the movie. I started another shot, but we had some technical difficulties this week that made me impossible to go further on it
This week on Singularity This week Critter's rig was being tested rigorously by Hjalti and Pablico, prompting for some more model updates for more appeal done by Julien. More background creatures are being sculpted by Vivien as well as giving the animators feedback with posing paint-overs.
This week I spent my time doing rig testing, for that I animated different swim cycles for critter
I wrapped up the model for One and handed it over to rigging & shading. But there was also an intervention on the eyes design of Critter, which needed some last minute model changes.
Some progress on bg creatures, some progress on the biggest painting in the universe of One, some Critter paintovers and drawovers, some space plant designs! Actually more happened this week than I thought :)
More critter rigging, or in this case mostly re-rigging, and so much left to do.
